Durant Vineyards 2008 Pinot Noir La Casita

Tasting Notes

Medium ruby color in the glass with nose of spices, vanilla, and bright sweet red cherries. The flavors develop form the first tastes of pleasant fruit into oak and soft earth character. The finish is long and smooth, with supple tannins and balanced acids.

The 2008 Vintage

The 2008 vintage is set to be one of the Ages for Oregon Vineyards. The spring and summer were unusually cool. Especially, the months of June and July. In an effort to ensure optimal quality, crop loads were reduced. September and October were nearly perfect months for optimal Pinot Noir development. Days in the high 80’s and low 90’s were followed by nighttime temperature in the low 40’s. These temperature profiles make for optimal flavor and complexity development in the vineyards.
