Join us for a lively discussion with Miles Hassell MD, local internal medicine physician and co-author of Good Food, Great Medicine, the premier guide to using diet and lifestyle for optimal health. Dr. Hassell established the Integrative Medicine Program at Providence Cancer Center and will discuss:  

  • How food and lifestyle choices – particularly an omnivorous Mediterranean diet – can dramatically reduce heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and dementia.
  • The long-term head-to-toe benefits of a minimally-restrictive Mediterranean diet of whole foods and healthy fats.
  • Common dietary misunderstandings and controversies: are whole foods like meat, dairy, grains, coffee and alcohol good or bad for us?
  • Why extra-virgin olive oil is vastly superior to other vegetable oils.

Mea Hassell, co-author and recipe creator of Good Food, Great Medicine, will apply these principles by demonstrating simple salad dressing techniques using extra-virgin olive oil.

We’ll complete the evening by enjoying a whole food Mediterranean dinner showcasing Durant Vineyards wine and Oregon Olive Mill evoo and celebrating the principles we just learned – provided by Valley Commissary.  Attendees will receive a copy of Good Food, Great Medicine and a bottle of Oregon Olive Mill’s award winning extra virgin olive oil to take home.
